Lymphocystis
Also called lymphocystis virus, cauliflower disease
Signs
- White or pink cauliflower-like warts on fins or skin
- Fish otherwise acts normally
Cause
A virus that flares up when fish are stressed. Common on glassfish and some cichlids.
What to do
There is no medicine. Keep water very clean and reduce stress; the growths usually shrink on their own over weeks.
If a fish is badly ill, talk to an aquatic vet.
Prevention
Stable, clean water and good diet.
