  • Scientific name

Valid name. Caution: fish are also traded as A. sp. "Juruá" and A. cf. juruensis (e.g. "black chin"), which are not necessarily this species; buy from labelled, locality-known stock. No Seriously Fish profile exists.

  • Sizecorrected

FishBase gives 2.4 cm SL (standard length), from Kullander 1986, the original description. This is the largest measured specimen, so aquarium fish may grow somewhat larger and total length is longer, but no reliable source supports the legacy 7 cm.

  • Storycorrected

Juruá origin confirmed. "Peaceful" and "uncommon" are not checked against a source; the naming caution reflects trade names A. sp. "Juruá" and A. cf. juruensis.
