Using TankMates
TankMates is free to use for keeping and learning about fish. Please don't misuse the site, copy it in bulk, or try to break it.
Fish advice
Our facts are checked against the sources shown on each page, but fish are living animals and every tank is different. Treat what you read as guidance, not a guarantee. For a sick fish, follow the medicine label exactly and ask a vet or an experienced keeper when you are unsure.
Local laws
Some fish and plants are banned or need a permit in some places. Where we know about a rule we say so on the page, but it is up to you to check the law where you live. Never release fish or plants into the wild.
Prices and shops
Prices come from shops and may change. Shops are responsible for what they sell and how they sell it.
Things you make and share
Designs from the Design Studio on the free plan are for personal use. You keep the rights to what you post, and you give TankMates permission to show it on the site.
Pictures
The painted pictures are made for TankMates. Photos from other people are used under their license; see Picture credits.
Changes
We may update these terms as TankMates grows. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
