Hikari Bio-Pure frozen whole bloodworms or mysis shrimp, frozen in water with added B vitamins and stabilised vitamin C. Mostly water: bloodworms crude protein min. 3.5%, moisture max. 95%; mysis crude protein min. 4.2%, moisture max. 96.5% (as fed). Mysis is a brackish-water shrimp.
For: Bloodworms: most freshwater fish (especially eels, livebearers, American cichlids, discus) and some aquatic reptiles; limited marine use. Mysis: most freshwater and marine fish, e.g. cichlids, angelfish, triggerfish, wrasses, seahorses.
How to feed: Use as a treat/supplement, not a staple. Feed only what the fish eat in 30–45 seconds, no more than twice a day, and remove leftovers. Thawing is not required by Hikari's pages; another maker (Ocean Nutrition) says not to thaw and to drop the frozen cube in.
Careful: Wash hands after handling (allergy risk from animal-derived food). Overfeeding and uneaten food harm water quality; remove leftovers. Frequent frozen/live feeding can make fish refuse formulated food. Hikari says its frozen line is sterilised and parasite/bacteria free (manufacturer claim).
