Hikari Lionhead: sinking mini pellet (1.7-2.0 mm) for fancy goldfish. Fish meal, wheat flour, soybean meal, krill meal, fish oil, yeast, spirulina, seaweed, astaxanthin, vitamins; protein min 46%, fat min 6%, fibre max 5%, moisture max 10%, ash max 15%.
For: Premium/fancy goldfish, especially oranda, lionhead, azuma nishiki and ranchu
How to feed: Feed 2-4 times daily, never more than eaten in about a minute; remove leftovers; feed less when water stays below 10°C (50°F) or above 30°C (86°F). Hikari does not ask for soaking; a vet source lists pre-moistening dried food among possible preventive steps for goldfish swim bladder problems.
Careful: Goldfish gulp air when feeding at the surface; a fish vet says many floating-goldfish problems are fixed by switching from floating to sinking pellets. Dry foods with low moisture are thought to contribute to constipation and buoyancy problems in fancy goldfish (evidence weak); gradual diet changes and pre-moistening dry food are suggested. Storage: sourced vet guidance (Merck) to keep dry food cool, dry and pest-proof and discard an opened container kept at room temperature after 2 months (rancidity, mould, mycotoxins). Overfeeding fouls water (manufacturer feeding notes).
